Why do we travel? I seem to ask myself that question during almost every journey I take. And it always appears unannounced in my head at about the same time. It’s when I’m starting to get that settled and calm feeling – kind of like getting in the groove. The travel groove. Everything appears easier, [...] Fiji wasn’t high on my ‘must visit’ list. However, a wedding of a family member sent me there. I’m glad I went. A short visit but filled with memories. I love hiking and I love camping. Gives me an excuse to take some photographs. 4 comments - dont be afraid to be the nextMy first glimpse of Norfolk Island was a brief flash of emerald green hills through the low cloud cover. As the aircraft banked to the left, it rocked up and down and within minutes we were heading towards the ground. So much ocean and so little ground. I knew very little of this place and [...] Another dingo attack has occurred on Queensland’s Fraser Island. A legacy of past feeding by tourists? And it looks like the dingo, when caught, will be destroyed. Tragic for all parties involved. My knuckles turn white as I grip the bar on the roof and nod to the three men standing beside me. It’s a cool January morning as we slowly drive past the Mae Sot Police Station. I look down at my feet to make sure I’m securely standing on the tailgate. |
