I believe in simple, clean designs which place equal importance upon typography, colour, layout, graphics and the quality of the content. I work with a graphic designer to achieve a good balance right from the start of a project.

Examples of my website design work can be viewed here.

I use a variety of templates based on WordPress due to its ease of use and the ability to quickly and consistently update content. Each template can be edited to achieve the desired look and feel you require for your project.

If you use WordPress, why don’t I just do it myself?

You can,  in fact many people do. However, remember the importance of good layout and quality content. Badly written content dominates the web. With technology, comes assumed expertise.

Poor knowledge of design elements such as typography, colour and layout can leave the reader confused and ready to look for another site.

Pricing

Like anyone I love what I do, but strangely enough I prefer not to work for free. My rates are reasonable and vary according to the project. I’m not hiding my rates due to some marketing trickery. It is simply that costs can vary so greatly.

Simple projects not requiring photographs or extensive written material, and without ongoing site management may be as little as AUS$750, ranging up to $2,500 or more, for more extensive projects.

If you want the services of an experienced editor and journalist, as well as a graphic designer, then perhaps we can work together.

I’m interested in having a web site designed for me, what should I do now?

Step 1. Firstly, I suggest reading my preliminary planning guide.  Please take your time to read it carefully. The reason I’ve put this together is to help guide your thoughts towards creating the right site for you. If you’re just too busy and want a site right away, then proceed straight to step 2.
