Switzerland’s alps can make you walk around with a constant grin. Everywhere you look it’s postcard images and sensory overload. Trains and cable cars all lead upwards. Flower boxes, with flowers magically and constantly in bloom, contrasting against the dark timbers of the typical, neat mountain chalet. Everything and everyone is in reverence, whether they realise it or not, to the ever looming mountains above. Every detail draws your eyes upwards towards the white peaks. The trails with their yellow signage beckon you to explore.
This is the setting for the 50km Eiger Ultra Trail race in Grindelwald, Switzerland in July this year. Ever since the race I’ve felt slightly changed. In a strange way the mountains opened my mind up to possibilties and the need for adventure.
To do the event and the region justice I really wanted to simply let the images convey everything and not try and reinterpret something that is already ideal. (images are my own except where stated)
