The brief: Supply a website for an online magazine that provides quality independent journalism and encourages reader feedback. Articles and images should be easily uploaded with limited technical knowledge.
The website: The site uses WordPress, which can assist online magazines and newsletters with search engine optimisation, or SEO and allows relatively easy updates. SEO done well, can ensure your website ranks high in google search results and therefore attracts readers. The background theme is a modified version of the popular Branford Magazine theme, designed by Michael Oeser.
The site, Eco online, is based on the print version, Sunshine Coast Eco News, which is distributed in southeast Queensland, Australia. Eco online has a growing readership, both national and international and consistently ranks high in keyword search results.
Ongoing services: Editing, co-ordination of editorial content and monitoring of visitor statistics.

Update: May 18, 2009. After the host’s server was compromised and hacked on April 25, the site’s software has been changed. Eco online is now based upon the very professional theme known as Mimbo Pro. The source code behind the site is now even better suited to google searches. The layout has been changed to give a cleaner looking site with more search options.
Update: June 7, 2010. Added PixoPoint Menu Plugin to enable more navigation points within the top navigation bar (a second navigation bar below the top menu). Also added a simpler subscribe link within the left sidebar and redesigned the subscribe page. WordPress version 3 is now out although the site will not be updated until I’m certain of any potential conflicts with plugins and Mimbo Pro.
Update: January 1, 2011. Site updated to the Genesis framework with a customised child theme.

A really smart plugin that has come in very handy. I hope it’s ok to use it for this community group’s website in the way I have. I spent some time trying to work out how to provide better navigation options on the site and your plugin was perfect.
